Role: Visual Designer/Component Designer
PROOF OF CONCEPT
In the era preceding Oracle's current Redwood Design System, I undertook the responsibility of crafting the Human Capital Management (HCM) experience specifically tailored for mobile devices. My primary goal was to deliver a user-centric interface that seamlessly combined functionality with visual appeal.
Leveraging Oracle's ALTA component library, I transformed, reimagined and refined numerous components to align them more closely with contemporary design patterns. The process involved a meticulous reevaluation of each element, ensuring not only functionality but also a harmonious integration with the prevailing design patterns.
The layout designed during that period might appear somewhat dated by today's standards. However, it's crucial to acknowledge that during its inception, the design was at the forefront of innovation. The cutting-edge nature of the mobile Human Capital Management experience, as envisioned and executed during that time, laid the groundwork for subsequent advancements in user interface design. The evolution from that early design phase to the present-day Redwood Design System exemplifies the dynamic nature of technology and design, showcasing the continuous pursuit of optimal user experiences.
VISUAL COMPONENT EXPLORATION
Conducting visual explorations to integrate ALTA patterns into components proved crucial, given Oracle's lack of a mobile app at that time. This enhanced the design library's adaptability across devices. The process analyzed each component, aligning it with ALTA patterns for a cohesive user experience. This proactive approach met mobile-friendly Human Capital Management needs and laid a foundation for a versatile design ecosystem. These visual updates, despite Oracle's absence of a mobile app, significantly influenced the design language's evolution.
Evaluating the holistic user experience, presented here is the initial prototype draft.
FINAL PROOF OF CONCEPT
Having undergone multiple design iterations, here's the conclusive prototype used to demonstrate the proof of concept to leadership. During testing, the new mobile app garnered positive feedback from users who appreciated its simplicity and user-friendly experience.
